so. this post is probably not going to make a lot of sense to some people. we'll see. but i have to rant, so i stop accidentally yelling at my lovely co-workers, who completely empathize and commiserate with me...
we're not allowed to park in the parking deck anymore.
i work at the coffee shop or espresso bar or whatever-you-wanna-call-it at unc hospital, and we've always parked in the patient/visitor parking deck. no, technically we weren't supposed to. but the home office always reimbursed us when we sent them our receipts. we don't work for the hospital. we aren't being students. so we figured, yeah, we're visitors. apparently, if we weren't wrong before, we are now. the stupid home office even sent us a memo saying that we were never allowed to park there - THEN WHY DID YOU REIMBURSE US ALL THOSE YEARS, YOU FREAKING IDIOTS???? our regional manager was able to obtain 2 passes for the s-11 deck for us, which i hear is a fifteen-minute walk from the shop (there's a shuttle that runs, but people told jamie there's never room on it and you might as well walk instead of waiting for it). that would obviously be a pain in the neck in inclement weather. and there are only 2 passes for us. there are, i think, five of us who drive, including jame and rob (manager and assistant manager, for those of you who are unfamiliar with my work situation). those of us who don't have passes will have to park somewhere and ride the bus in. not excited about that. certainly the parking passes will go to people who have to open (if they're drivers), since the buses don't run that early. but the rest of us...ick. really not excited about that. i'm going to see how the rest of this week goes. arielle will probably at least be able to take my car and pick me up (since hers is currently out of commission and i'll be parking at church anyway), which will keep me from having to endure a 45-minute bus ride back (yes, kids, you heard right: 45 minutes on a crap-for-brains bus - though the ride TO work will be a mere 20...) ah, well. maybe i'll actually get some of that reading done (a hundred years is first in line, jo!) so, yeah. some of us are being forced to seriously re-think our current employment situation. and if some of us re-think too hard, just about everyone else will follow, and it will be the company's loss... but at this point all i can say is that, as with most things in life, only time will tell. peace out.
