i'm wearing a headset...

different sort of gig, this. today and monday i'm "receptioning" for a law group (LLCs and such - "we don't litigate"). a touch more professional than the carpet place (and not more than a touch, really) - and therefore a touch more complicated...but not really. now that i've got the phone system pretty much down (after my little crisis of two calls at the same time and i don't see that person on the list of extensions and i don't know how to get back to the other person and what am i doing and where's tanner??? it's all fancy and digital - and i don't even really know how to use the norstar phones all that well) and i know how to reserve the conference rooms on outlook (piece of cake), i really think i can handle this. the view out the window is pretty nice, too; though i'm sure i could see much further if it were clear out. oh, well - ya can't have everything. and i think i missed the "casual friday" memo. so. nice place, nice people, coffee at the push of a button (yes, they have one of those nifty little machines. i think i'm gonna have to do a little research and find out if it's any good...) i think a person could get used to this place fairly easily. but honestly, i'm kinda glad it's not a long-term thing. and the wonderful people at raleigh carpet and flooring have told me they want me back on tuesday. so i'm kind of actually working on a semi-consistent basis already. and i'm gonna be able to pay rent! and i think i'll have enough left over to pay my car insurance! life is great! well, now i'm hungry. i think i remember something about pretzels in the kitchen....
